Royal Oak Chronograph (Khaki Green)

The Royal Oak Chronograph is AP's answer to bolting a stopwatch onto Gérald Genta's octagon without wrecking the proportions, and for a quarter century it did that with a chronograph movement that was, generously, showing its age. That changed when AP rolled out the in-house Calibre 4401 across the 41mm line to coincide with the Royal Oak's 50th anniversary, finally building its own column wheel chronograph engine instead of buying one in.

This Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph wears a 41mm rose gold case with a khaki green Grande Tapisserie dial. Calibre 4401 inside, on a khaki green alligator strap with a rose gold folding clasp.

Fun fact: this exact rose gold and khaki green combination first appeared a year earlier as a 50th-anniversary-specific reference, whose caseback showed off a gold oscillating weight engraved with a "50 Years" motif. Once that run wound down, AP carried the design into standard production as this reference, the identical watch minus the commemorative rotor.
